I’ve recently seen a lot of blog posts about people writing letters to their future husband/wife. These things make me so excited. There’s nothing I love more than thinking of a future where I have an amazing life and I’m sharing it with a human that loves me. So, I thought I’d jump on the band wagon and write my future husband a long and sappy letter.
Dear my future husband,
It’s crazy to think God created you to be with me and I to be with you. It feels like I’m always thinking about you. What qualities I hope you have or qualities I hope you don’t have. It’s crazy to think about the little things to like what color eyes you’ll have or what your laugh sounds like. I know I’ll love all your little things and I hope you do the same. I truly can’t wait to meet you.
I never had the best ideas of what love is. When I was six my parents got divorced, and I remember knowing that they would. Hearing them fight at night from my room, even at a young age, I knew that wasn’t what I wanted. Then having my heart broken by my first love, it left a bad taste in my mouth about trusting someone with my heart again. Trusting has always been hard for me, but once I do the deals been done and there’s no turning back. When I truly fell in love with God I learned what an unconditional love was. I learned what it was to be comforted in times of despair. I also learned the way to love someone properly. So, in short, just know I’ve had to learn a lot about love, but I promise you I’ll love you with my whole heart.
I love to love. I have a heart that overflows with love for people. I’ll be your biggest fan and I’ll never give up on us. Don’t surprised if I sneak notes into your notebooks or bible for you to find just so you remember how much I love you. Don’t be surprised also if I buy you donuts or cupcakes and bring them to your work just so you’ll feel special. I just love that feeling of making someone feel happy and loved and I can’t wait to spoil you with those little things. If you are having a bad day I’ll be there to listen and then threaten to beat up anyone who made you feel that way. I may be 5’4 and hate confrontation, but I’m good with one liners that make people think about them for days. I can’t wait to be obsessed with anything that you do, if that’s sports, music, or practically anything I’ll be there to cheer you on.
I can’t wait for you to be a man that strengthens my faith by me seeing how strong yours is. I want you to be a disciple of God. I want to see you and your fellowship with Christ and crave that. I desire that you can sing and worship God to your fullest ability. I have no wish to date let alone marry a man with little faith. I pray every day for you to be a man of Christ.
I know I have my faults. I may not be the most patient and I may be a little too emotional. I’m super clingy. I sing the same Lumineers songs repeatedly. I know I get an idea in my head and run with it immediately. I’ll probably always have these faults and if you can’t love me through them, we will never work. If you understand that I’m not a morning person until a little alone time and a few cups of coffee, we’ll be alright. Just remember to
remind me that you’ll always love me and I can’t mess it up no matter how many times I call you crying because I already paid for my gas and my gas tank is on the other side of my car. (You laugh now just wait until it happens three times a week.)
Just know, I’m already so in love with you. I don’t even know you yet, but I’m ready too. Being lonely isn’t fun, but knowing you’re coming at just the right time makes the wait worth it. I’m beyond ready for you now, but I know God must get everything perfect. I can’t wait to meet you and I pray for you every single day. Thank you in advance for everything. I love you.
Much Love,
Hannah
